SEED’s programming focuses on four key objectives: 1) the delivery of transformational, comprehensive MHPSS services including case management, mental health, and legal services, as well as psychosocial support activities; 2) strengthening the capacity of service providers through education, training, and capacity-building programs; 3) promoting policy and social change to strengthen the rights of, and protections for, vulnerable groups and individuals; and, 4) supporting the protection and recovery of survivors of trafficking, including through SEED’s shelter for victims of trafficking and those at risk, after care services, and prevention work to reduce the risk of trafficking through public awareness, technical assistance, and advocacy for legal, regulatory, policy, process, and institutional changes.

Role of the Education Program Manager

SEED is seeking an Education Program Manager to manage a project to strengthen the capacity of social workers through strengthening the undergraduate social work program of a local university. The Education Program Manager is expected to work closely with a local university to analyze the current program, conduct an assessment of the existing program, set priorities for improvements, undertake improvements in the curriculum and train faculty staff accordingly, in order to build the social work program students’ capacity to meet the needs of the population of Kurdistan as well as to be successful in finding employment in their jobs.

The Education Program Manager will be responsible for the social work program design and development, implementation, M&E, and reporting. The Education Program Manager must have a strong grounding in social work values and work to incorporate them throughout the program. In addition, he/she will coordinate and implement program activities and support mechanisms that are in place to track, analyze, and report on results.

The Education Program Manager will also ensure the technical expertise required to effectively educate and train target populations is brought to bear in order to achieve intended social work program outcomes. Moreover, the program manager will also represent SEED with universities, NGOs, donors, and offices of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The Education Program Manager will report to the Program Director and is expected to work collaboratively with other members of SEED’s management team and Technical Department.

Specific Tasks

Project Management (50%)

  • Develop, review, and design needs assessment methodologies and tools to assess the needs/gaps of social work curriculums, faculty staff needs in terms of the training, and students. Manage the process of strengthening the social work program curriculum according to identified needs/gaps through working closely with SEED’s Technical Department and consultants.
  • Act as a point of contact to conduct day to day activities according to the social work
    improvement plan.
  • Work closely with the point of contact assigned by the university to provide recommendations and gaps that need to be addressed by the steering committee.
  • Analyze the needs assessment findings and design the recommendations for thePlease  program accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director and technical advisors on all aspects of
    program and project planning including program design, implementation, and research.
  • Identify challenges with implementation and make timely recommendations for course correction.
  • Working closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)
    Manager, develop and contribute to the creation of MEAL systems for programs and projects.
  • Ensure that MEAL systems provide adequate feedback to inform program development and course corrections as necessary.
  • Adhere to all SEED Foundation procurement, logistics, and administrative regulations related to programming.

Education Development (35%)

Coordination and Organizational Representation (15%)

  • Degree in education, social work, international development, education management,
    or other relevant areas. Master degree is preferred.
  • At least five years of NGO program management experience in international settings or academic social work education institutions including curriculum development.
  • High standard of spoken and written English and Kurdish or Arabic.
  • Experience working on GBV, protection, youth empowerment, education, and/or training and capacity building programs.
  • Compassionate, confident, dynamic, and independent leader.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and persuasion skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently, including the ability to multitask, prioritize competing tasks, and manage time effectively.

Essential Criteria

  • University degree in social work or psychology, Gender, Public Health, Human Rights or other related field.
  • Written and spoken Kurdishc and English language skills
  • Experience in conducting group activities. Experience in structured PSS curriculums and material preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents and youth on various topics
  • Good social skills and fostering interpersonal relationships
  • Experience in leading and facilitating online sessions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to gain trust and build relationships with team members and community
  • Ability to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environment
  • Ability to work with clients from different backgrounds, ethnicities and religions without discrimination
