About SEED Foundation

SEED Foundation is a locally-registered NGO in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. SEED’s mission is to protect, empower, and support the recovery of survivors of violence and others at risk. SEED’s programming focuses on four key objectives: 1) the delivery of transformational, comprehensive MHPSS services including case management, mental health, and legal services, as well as psychosocial support activities; 2) strengthening the capacity of service providers through education, training, and capacity-building programs; 3) ​promoting policy and social change to strengthen the rights of, and protections for, vulnerable groups and individuals; and, 4) supporting the protection and recovery of survivors of trafficking in persons (TIP) including through SEED’s shelter for victims of trafficking and those at risk, after care services, and prevention work to reduce the risk of trafficking through public awareness, technical assistance, and advocacy for legal, regulatory, policy, process, and institutional changes.

Role of the Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator works in SEED’s office in Duhok or Erbil with regular travel to other sites within KRI. The Project Coordinator will manage the transforming masculinities objective of a larger GBV and Protection program. This will include managing a sub-grantee and subcontractor, as well as managing a team of group facilitators across multiple locations. The Project Coordinator will lead on the planning, coordination, implementation, and reporting for all activities related to this project. The coordinator is responsible for coordinating with the sub-grantee and their sub-contractor, and internally with SEED’s field offices, programs, and operations departments, and communications and monitoring and evaluation units. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring appropriate systems and support mechanisms are in place to track, analyze, and report on results and ensure the project is progressing according to plan. The Project Coordinator will report to the Program Manager of this grant. 

Specific Tasks

Project Coordination and Implementation (60%)

  • Manage group facilitators across multiple locations, providing regular support, supervision, and oversight. 
  • Oversee project budget including sub-grantee’s budget to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Ensure relevant cultural inputs and adaptations are included into documents developed by sub-grantee throughout the process by coordinating with relevant staff. 
  • Contribute to the adaptation of curriculum manuals to the context of the Kurdistan Region.
  • Provide guidance and ensure the recruitment and retention of group participants goes smoothly. 
  • Track, monitor, and assess progress on program objectives, activities, and targets. 
  • Identify challenges, make recommendations for course correction, and take steps to ensure project implementation is on time, progressing towards targets and within budget, with the Program Manager.
  • Support coordination across programmatic, operational, and management teams by drafting meeting agendas and minutes, managing the trackers and other duties as assigned. 
  • Ensure all activities are in line with grant agreements and are implemented in full compliance with donor regulations and SEED Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all SEED Foundation procurement, logistics and administrative regulations related to programming.
  • Identify any gaps or capacity needs within the team and ensure training and capacity building is conducted.
  • Support with administrative logistics for sub-grantees’ field visits.
  • Plan and organize training, focus group discussions, and other events, ensuring necessary logistical arrangements are in place.
  • Liaise with the translation team to ensure all program materials are translated and that live interpretation is arranged as needed for program activities. 

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (15%)

  • Contribute to quarterly reports, incorporating SEED and sub-grantees inputs. 
  • Liaise with the MEAL unit and sub-grantee to ensure adequate MEAL systems, tools, and processes are in place to measure program impact. 
  • Contribute to quality program reporting and contribute to MEAL systems for both internal and external use, alongside the MEAL unit.
  • Develop and maintain a list of reporting deadlines for grants and play a key role in collection of data, ensuring accuracy of data, and report writing.

Communications, Coordination, and Organizational Representation (15%)

  • Contribute to the development of research briefs in coordination with the sub-grantee. 
  • Support the dissemination of policy briefs about research findings and the impact of the intervention to relevant stakeholders.  
  • Work closely with SEED’s communications team and sub-grantee to plan and implement awareness-raising campaigns informed by research findings. 
  • Prepare communications materials regarding the project including flyers, social media posts, website content, awareness materials, etc.
  • Represent SEED with donors, KRG, UN, and other NGOs, and draft external correspondences as necessary.
  • Identify, build, and manage collaborative partnerships with other humanitarian partners, coordination bodies, local authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including donors, government actors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs and with program partners.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years of protection experience, of which at least 2 have been in a management position. 
  • University degree relevant for development work, preferably related to gender studies, human rights, international development, law, social work, social sciences or other relevant areas.
  • Experience in international development or humanitarian settings working with displaced people.
  • Previous work on masculinities, gender, and GBV will be considered an asset. 
  • Full adherence to PSEA, Child Safeguarding, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest policies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and cross-cultural abilities.
  • Strong ability to work independently, including the ability to multitask, prioritize competing tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and ability to work in a team.
  • High standard of spoken and written English, Arabic, and Kurdish.
  • Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office packages.
