SEED’s programming focuses on three key objectives: 1) the delivery of transformational, comprehensive services including case management, mental health, and legal services, as well as psychosocial support activities; 2) strengthening the capacity of service providers through education, training, and capacity-development programs; and 3) promoting policy and social change to strengthen rights and protections for vulnerable groups and individuals through public awareness, technical assistance, and advocacy.
Role of the Teacher
SEED is looking to hire one teacher to provide Informal education for the children including (Basic Arabic, Basic English, Basic Math, Basic Science)
Specific Tasks
- Experience working with children primary school level.
- Provide basic informal education classes for children, including the following:
- Basic alphabet and numeracy in the Arabic language, English Language
- Basic personal, social and emotional skills
- Basic mathematics
- Basic science.
- The Teacher is committed to stimulating children’s skills and using various activities and instructional approaches (songs, stories, media, organized games, art, outdoor activities, etc.).
- Provides services five days and 40 hours a week according to a schedule agreed upon with SEED. The services include class delivery, class preparation, coordination and consultation meetings, and coordination efforts with SEED’s management team.
- Maintain an open line of communication with SEED staff responsible in the project.
- Organize and create an engaging classroom environment.
- Teach with student-centered approach and get the students involved in the education process.
- Commit to monitoring children’s interactions and nurturing cooperation.
- Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations according to SEED’s foundation’s policies.
Essential criteria
- Bachelor degree in a faculty of education (Mathematics, English Language, Science, Arabic Language), or other relevant degree
- 3 years of experience in teaching in kindergartens or primary schools
- Experience in working with students, helping them expand their skills, and use various educational strategies and approaches to deliver the content of class.
- Strong understanding of children’s early development and care teaching methods.
- Strong belief in human rights and gender equality
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and ethical awareness on working with children.
- High standard of spoken and written English; Arabic and/or Kurdish a plus
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments
- Willingness to be based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq
