Role of the job title:

The MEAL Assistant will be a part of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Unit, supporting implementation of the overall MEAL system. S/he will assist the MEAL team with activities, including data collection, database management and analysis. The MEAL Assistant will support all efforts for promoting a high level of beneficiary accountability, and will manage the feedback mechanism. The MEAL Assistant will be reporting to the Senior MEAL Manager in HQ and support the MEAL team and program teams to ensure the systems are working effectively.

Specific Tasks:

  • Provide day to day support to service delivery staff with data cleaning and giving guidance when needed.

  • Provide guidance to service providers on our IMS when changes are made in the system.
  • Share regular updates on completed forms, missing forms.
  • Identify any data discrepancy in our system by checking for duplicates, making needed changes on individual trackers and monthly trackers that service providers are using.
  • Organize, collect, compile, and document all program and MEAL-related data and files, ensuring that all records are properly organized and closely checking Individual trackers for missing information.
  • Work in close coordination with the service delivery teams to accurately report monthly updates.
  • Provide monthly support to the MEAL team to compile needed information for external reporting ie. GBV-IMS and Activity Info.
  • Support data analysis and quality checking needs that may arise.
  • Support data entry and reporting efforts if needed, and contribute to the overall implementation of monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • Travel to all areas of work and conduct field visits to collect complaints or feedback from our boxes.
  • Ensure support in the design, production and dissemination of complaint and feedback mechanism materials like posters and banners in sites.
  • Conduct community based awareness sessions in regards to Complaint and feedback policy to improve participation of communities and their ability to provide feedback and raise concerns.
  • Collect feedback from targeted beneficiaries regularly and develop reports to higher management with ways to improve our services.
  • Ensure that all clients receiving cash assistance are verified and recorded in the compiled Monthly Post-distribution List according to the provided SOPs.
  • Conduct lesson learned workshops and reflection sessions.
  • Participate in the documentation and dissemination of this learning to other team members to ensure that good practice is understood and adopted and information exchanged.
  • Perform other duties as necessary, as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential criteria:

  • University degree in Software engineering, statistics, management, or other relevant degree.

  • Two years of experience in MEAL or data management and NGOs work.
  • Strong belief in human rights and gender equality.
  • Ability to work independently, including the ability to multitask, prioritize competing tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • High standard of spoken and written Kurdish, English; and/or Arabic a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills.
